Hey there! Hi there! I'm Brandy Lawson and you're listening to Elevated, the podcast helping you build a better kitchen and bath design business. In our last episode, we explored how to use AI to extract the right stuff from meeting summaries. Today's topic is another powerful application of AI, using it as a summarization tool to tackle complex information and make better business decisions. Let's face it, as business owners, we're constantly bombarded with information, from government regulations to insurance quotes. It can be overwhelming to process it all, but what if I told you that AI could be your secret decoder ring to help you cut through the noise? Today I'm sharing two real world stories about AI. that'll show you how AI can help you in understanding complex information. First up, let's talk about government regulations. Yeah, no one's excited. We all know they're about as exciting as watching paint dry, but they're crucial to understand when running a business. Recently, there were updates to the regulations for Certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. These particular regulations pertain to the audience for one of our clients. Now, normally, deciphering these changes would be a headache inducing task. But, here's what we did. We fed the entire regulation into an AI tool and asked it specific questions about the changes. The result? The AI provided us with a clear summary of the updates and the highlighted impact on the business owners. It was like having a legal translator on speed dial. We were then able to provide a plain English, easy to read summary to tell business owners how this affected them. This approach isn't just for government regulations. You can use it when your suppliers update their terms of service, or even before agreeing to new software terms. You could actually read the entire terms before signing. All right, now let's move on to my personal version of hell, shopping for insurance. If you've ever tried to compare commercial insurance quotes, you know it's not a task for the faint of heart. Each quote seems to have different coverages and levels, making comparison feel nearly impossible. Here's where AI shines. We started feeding those mind numbing insurance PDFs into an AI tool. Then we asked for a summary of each quote and posed additional questions about the differences. And Suddenly, those confusing quotes transformed into clear, comparable information. The result was being able to make an informed decision way more quickly and easily, saving hours of trying to reformat them into something understandable by us mere mortals who don't like doing that. The beauty of using AI in these scenarios is that it's not just summarizing, it's analyzing. It can spot patterns, highlight discrepancies, and even suggest areas that might need your attention. Now, I can almost hear you thinking, but Brandy, isn't this just making us lazy? Not at all! Using AI in this way isn't about avoiding the work, it's about working smarter. It frees up your brain power to focus on what really matters. Making strategic decisions, or finding that one of a kind design solution for your kitchen and bath design business. Remember, AI is a tool, not a replacement for your expertise. You're still the one making the decision. AI is just helping you navigate through complex information more efficiently. As we wrap up, I want to encourage you to think about areas in your business where you're drowning in information. Could AI help you summarize and analyze that data more effectively? Whether it's understanding industry trends, comparing vendor proposals, or even analyzing customer feedback, AI could be your new efficiency companion. In our next episode, we'll explore another way AI can help you run a more profitable kitchen and bath design business, creating tasks. Trust me, you won't want to miss it.
